In a resounding victory against terrorism, the Nigerian Army has declared the elimination of 11 terrorists in meticulously coordinated operations across Zamfara and Katsina States. These operations, strategically aimed at dismantling terrorist strongholds, not only resulted in the demise of terrorists but also in the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons.

The Army made this commendable announcement through a post on X, underscoring the significant outcomes of their relentless counter-terrorism endeavors.

“Our troops engaged in Counterterrorism and Counterinsurgency operations in Katsina and Zamfara States executed a series of meticulously planned raids on terrorist hideouts, leading to the elimination of a considerable number of terrorists,” the post revealed.

In Zamfara, the focus was on the lair of the notorious terrorist leader, Hassan Yantagwaye, situated in Tsafe Local Government Area. A daring operation unfolded on March 29, 2024, marked by a fierce confrontation resulting in the neutralization of three terrorists and the confiscation of a substantial arsenal of arms and ammunition.

“During the operation, our troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, neutralizing three of them and seizing a significant cache of arms and ammunition. Furthermore, the terrorists’ camps were demolished,” the Army disclosed.

The operation seamlessly extended into Katsina State on March 30, 2024, where troops confronted terrorists in various locations within Faskari Local Government Area. The ensuing skirmishes led to the demise of eight terrorists and the recovery of weapons, including three locally manufactured guns, military attire, and pilfered grains.

Moreover, the Army’s vigilance in quelling violence and unlawful activities transcended to Ebonyi and Ogun States. In Ebonyi, armed militias encountered fierce resistance but were ultimately subdued by troops, resulting in the apprehension of one militia member alongside an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.

Simultaneously, in Ogun State, troops intercepted a vehicle ferrying 441 parcels suspected to contain cannabis sativa, following the perpetrators’ hasty abandonment of the vehicle.

This string of successful operations not only underscores the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to national security but also sends a clear message of deterrence to terrorist elements across the region.
