The Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police in India has announced the dismantling of an international drug syndicate, culminating in the arrest of three foreign nationals and the confiscation of 204.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, commonly referred to as ice.
The individuals apprehended on April 2 are Frank Nwokeji, Loua, and Jack David llobi Tochukwu, all Nigerian residents of New Delhi. Loua had a previous encounter with the law in 2019 under the NDPS Act, where he was detained for possession of 207 grams of heroin and is presently out on bail. Similarly, David has a history of brushes with the law and has faced prior arrests by the Delhi Police.
The operation unfolded when Inspector Ashok Kumar, leading a team from the crime branch, acted upon a tip-off received on March 30, indicating the impending arrival of three Africans known for supplying drugs in Chandigarh. Investigations unveiled that the suspects had initially entered India on medical and business visas for temporary stays but had extended their stay unlawfully after the expiration of their visas, engaging in illicit drug trafficking.
Further inquiry revealed that the suspects procured the contraband from their home country at lower prices and subsequently peddled them at inflated rates within discos, pubs, and bars across the Tricity area.
The police have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts aimed at apprehending additional members of the drug syndicate to curb the illicit trade further.
