[BREAKING] NERC Imposes N200 Million Fine On AEDC Over Alleged Electricity Tariff Violation....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has imposed a hefty N200 million fine on Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc (AEDC) for breaching tariff regulations, as reported by Naija News. This penalty was disclosed by NERC in a statement released on Friday via its official communication platform.
NERC highlighted AEDC’s failure to adhere to tariff guidelines, which raised concerns among consumers and industry stakeholders alike. Following a comprehensive assessment and taking into account customer feedback, NERC found that AEDC had applied the new tariff indiscriminately across all customer bands, contrary to the Order’s objective of ensuring equitable billing practices.
Consequently, NERC has instructed AEDC to reimburse customers in Bands B, C, D, and E who were charged beyond the permissible tariff bands specified in the Order.
