Zamfara State Government Imposes Ban On Political Officers And Civil Servants From Participating In Radio And TV Interviews

The Zamfara State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, has implemented a ban on political officeholders and agency heads from participating in interviews, issuing statements, or broadcasting programs on radio, television, and social media platforms without prior authorization. This directive was announced in a statement released on Friday by Mannir Haidara, the Commissioner of Information.

Haidara emphasized that media organizations operating within the state must refrain from conducting or broadcasting any radio or television programs regarding government policies without obtaining approval from the Ministry of Information. The Ministry of Information is tasked with overseeing and ensuring compliance with these regulations among all radio stations.

According to the statement, the government has observed with concern the behavior of certain individuals, political groups, and agency heads who engage in interviews and programs on government policies without following proper procedures. To address this issue, the Ministry of Information and Culture of Zamfara State has mandated that no political officeholder, group, or agency head is permitted to conduct interviews, issue statements, or broadcast programs on radio, television, or social media platforms without seeking prior permission.

Furthermore, media organizations based in the state are urged to refrain from conducting or airing any radio or television programs discussing government policies without approval from the supervising Ministry or the Ministry of Information.

The Ministry of Information and Culture is committed to monitoring radio stations for compliance and ensuring that all information disseminated to the public regarding government and its policies is accurate and properly conveyed.
