The Ministry of Niger Delta Development (MNDD), in collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Delta State Government, has commenced the 6th meeting of the Council of Niger Delta (NCND).
Yesterday marked the beginning of this significant gathering, with today being the continuation of discussions and engagements. Held under the theme “Stimulating Strategies For Economic Growth and Development in the Niger Delta Region,” the event spans from April 22nd to 23rd at the Unity Hall, Government House Complex in Asaba, Delta State.
The distinguished Chief Host for this occasion is the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, alongside Engr Honorable Abubakar Momoh FNSE, Minister of the Niger Delta Development Ministry.
The opening day of the event commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by the Permanent Secretary of the MNDD, setting the stage for fruitful discussions and collaborations. The formal declaration of the event’s commencement was made by the Delta State Deputy Governor, adding an official touch to the proceedings.
Key highlights of the day included insightful paper presentations aimed at exploring avenues for economic growth and development in the Niger Delta region. Dr. Kingsley Emuh, the Secretary to the State Government of Delta State, presented on the “Imperatives for Stimulating Growth and Development Through Economic Collaboration in the Niger Delta Region.” This presentation delved into crucial strategies and approaches to spur economic progress and prosperity in the region.
Furthermore, Dr. Jobson Ewalefoh from the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) presented a paper on “Public Private Partnership (PPP): The Most Reliable Funding Option to Fast-Track Development in the 21st Century.” This presentation shed light on the significant role of PPP in driving infrastructure development and enhancing the efficiency of public service delivery.
The 6th NCND meeting served as a platform for stakeholders, government officials, and experts to engage in robust discussions, share insights, and explore innovative solutions for sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
