Celestine Onele, an electrical engineer hailing from Ezza South Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, has commenced a challenge aimed at shattering the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous ironing session.

His endeavor began on Monday, April 22, 2024, at the Real Exclusive Garden in Abakaliki.Onele, currently pursuing a Master’s degree at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, disclosed to reporters that he secured official endorsement from Guinness World Records, along with a stringent set of guidelines to adhere to throughout his record-breaking pursuit.

The current record, held by Garric Standard from the United Kingdom, stands at 100 hours, surpassing the previous benchmark of 80 hours set by Huston from Australia in 2012. Onele aims to elevate this record to an impressive 150 hours, drawing upon his childhood passion for ironing to leave his mark on a global scale.Speaking on the arduous journey towards obtaining approval for his attempt, Onele emphasized the meticulous process, spanning 18 weeks from the initial application submission to final authorization. He emphasized the critical importance of adhering to the established guidelines, which encompass various rules governing the attempt.
