Last night, a tragic incident unfolded at Maladah Senior Secondary School in Kunkujang Jatta-ya, situated in the West Coast Region of the Gambia. It is reported that a 10th-grade student, identified as Mamy Jassey, allegedly took her own life due to an unwanted pregnancy.
Local media sources have revealed that Mamy Jassey passed away after reportedly ingesting a toxic substance shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024. She was swiftly transported to a nearby private clinic near Lamin Lodge, where a nurse pronounced her deceased.
In a twist of events during the family’s preparations for her burial, a lab technician residing in Mamy’s neighborhood noticed subtle signs of life upon examining her pulse. Reacting promptly, the lab technician and several neighbors rushed Mamy to the Banjulunding Health Center.
Despite efforts to revive her, Mamy was once again pronounced dead at the health center. Subsequently, a postmortem examination was recommended to ascertain the circumstances surrounding her untimely demise.
