A young woman named Mwewa Nkandu has reportedly taken her own life due to debt-related pressures in Ndola, Zambia.
The deceased, who worked as a registered nurse at the Ndola Teaching Hospital (NTH) in the Copperbelt Province, tragically ended her life amidst financial struggles.According to acquaintances, Nkandu had allegedly amassed significant debt that she couldn’t repay.Confirming her passing, the hospital released a brief statement on its official Facebook page on Monday, May 6, 2024.“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our colleague Ms. Nkandu Mwewa RN. Our deepest condolences to her family and fellow staff at NTH. May her soul rest in peace,” the statement expressed.One individual, identified as Kaweji, revealed that the deceased had reached out to her via TikTok in the past.“I’m deeply saddened. Ms. Nkandu once contacted me through TikTok, and together, we brainstormed strategies to alleviate her financial burden. Debt is claiming many lives, and my experience working in a bank has exposed me to the myriad of challenges people face.
It’s not always about materialism or extravagance; people endure various hardships,” Kaweji lamented.
