An 18-year-old notorious cultist and armed robber, Anichede Akachukwu, alias Star B, was apprehended by operatives of the Anambra State Police Command in Idemili South Local Government Area. SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesperson, revealed that Akachukwu is the ringleader of a cult and armed robbery syndicate wreaking havoc in Ogbaru LGA and Asaba, Delta State.

Akachukwu’s arrest on May 17, 2024, came while he was undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound sustained during a clash with police in Asaba. The success of the operation was credited to the strategic policing plan implemented by Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, focusing on practical intelligence, technology-driven initiatives, and tactical operations.

The statement further indicated that Akachukwu, also known as Star B, confessed to leading the Vikings Secret Cult Confraternity and an armed gang operating in Ogbaru LGA and Asaba. His capture yielded valuable intelligence, including insights into their modus operandi and the identities of other gang members, facilitating ongoing investigations.

In a separate incident on May 20, 2024, in Okija, Ihiala, law enforcement recovered a white Porsche Cayenne Jeep suspected to be used by secessionist elements in Ihiala. Upon inspection, authorities found twenty-seven live 7.62mm ammunition rounds, three live cartridges, a flashlight, assorted charms, and other incriminating items.

CP Nnaghe Obono Itam urged operatives to maintain their momentum and continue targeted operations to root out criminal elements and diminish crime across the state.
