Speaking to reporters at the PDP secretariat in Umuahia following a stakeholders’ meeting, the Vice Chairman of the party and Acting Publicity Secretary, Abraham Amah, admitted to significant mistakes and expressed the party’s determination to rectify them. He emphasized that the party is poised to adopt a new approach, leveraging the lessons learned from past errors, and expressed satisfaction that the party remains strong across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
Amah also voiced confidence in the resurgence of the Abia PDP, especially with the anticipated influx of prominent political figures into the party in the near future.
Regarding recent defections within the party, Amah likened it to the shedding of leaves by an Iroko tree during the dry season, stating that such changes are essential for growth. He assured that the party is managing the transitions and anticipates the arrival of new influential members to fill the void left by those who departed.
Echoing Amah’s sentiments, the immediate past Governor of the State, Okezie Ikpeazu, declared an end to the era of imposition within the party, affirming that members will now have a say in selecting their leaders.
Meanwhile, the Abia State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Asiforo Okere, urged party members to remain steadfast in their support for the party’s objectives.
