Mr. Lawyer Steward, the husband of the deceased who is also an assistant Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Abarikpo, confirmed the apprehension of the suspect.
Steward revealed that Emeka was arrested 15 months after allegedly masterminding the assault and killing of his wife. He recounted that Emeka had a dispute with his wife prior to the tragic incident.
Steward recounted, “Yes, Mr. Emeka is the mastermind behind my wife’s death. Following a quarrel with my wife that morning, he allegedly threatened her after she called him a wicked man.”
“He said to my wife, ‘You called me a wicked man? You will see wickedness today.’ That night, around 1 am on Sunday, February 12, 2023, a group of individuals broke into my house, abducted my wife, and took her away,” Steward lamented.
“They subjected her to rape. My wife was five months pregnant at the time, and they ultimately strangled her to death. Emeka was apprehended by the police last Thursday and is currently in custody. I have provided my statement to the authorities, and I urge the Government to ensure that justice is served,” Steward added.
It is worth noting that Steward had previously informed the media that his wife was abducted from their home in the Abarikpo community by suspected members of the Iceland cult, who then took her to their hideout where she was gang-raped to death
