The Presidency on Friday criticized leading opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, claiming that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is facing an escalating internal crisis.
The remarks were made by the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post shared on .
Onanuga stated that tensions within the African Democratic Congress had intensified following renewed disputes over its national convention.
He cited comments from Nafiu Bala, who reportedly described the convention organised under the leadership of David Mark as illegitimate, saying the development further casts doubt on the credibility of the process and reflects ongoing leadership struggles within the party.
Reacting further, Onanuga said the internal disagreements had deepened, writing: “Nafiu Bala Gombe just further trashed the ADC illegal elective convention. The ADC quagmire worsens.”
The presidential aide also mocked key opposition figures, including Rauf Aregbesola and others, suggesting they had little influence within the party structure.
“No pity for the SPV renters: Atiku, Obi, Aregbesola, Mark, Alhaji Kwankwaso,” he added.
The comments come amid growing political realignments and tensions within opposition ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the ADC increasingly viewed as a potential coalition platform.
