Nigeria midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has spoken of mixed feelings at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after missing the opportunity to play alongside his younger brother, Tom, for the Super Eagles.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Both brothers were named in Nigeria’s expanded 54-man provisional squad released in early December ahead of the tournament. However, when the list was reduced before the team’s departure to Morocco, only Fisayo retained his place, with Tom left out of the final selection.

The Lazio star has been a regular feature for Nigeria in the group stage, contributing to wins over Tanzania and Uganda as the Super Eagles topped Group C with a flawless nine points.

Despite the team’s impressive start, Fisayo admitted that his brother’s omission was a source of disappointment for both himself and their family.

“The family was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, he wasn’t selected for the final squad,” he told Victor Modo.

The 24-year-old said sharing the national stage with his brother would have been a memorable experience, especially for loved ones who had hoped to see them represent Nigeria together.

Nonetheless, he remains optimistic that their paths will eventually cross in the national team, insisting the setback has not dampened their long-term aspirations.

With the group stage behind them, Nigeria now shift focus to the knockout phase, where a Round of 16 showdown with Mozambique awaits as the Super Eagles continue their pursuit of a fourth AFCON title.
