Aisha Buhari Breaks Silence: Sh*cking Truth Behind Buhari’s Final Moments Revealed
Former First Lady Aisha Buhari has turned to a newly released biography of her late husband to clarify the circumstances surrounding his death in July 2025, firmly dismissing long-standing speculation about poisoning or assassination.
In From Soldier to Statesman: The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, she said the family accepted only the medical explanation provided by doctors.
According to the book, Aisha Buhari ruled out claims of poison, air-conditioning sabotage or any secret plot, describing such stories as fear-driven distractions from the former president’s real health challenges.
She disclosed that medical experts who attended to Buhari clearly told the family that he died from pneumonia.
The former First Lady added that similar rumours trailed Buhari’s 2017 illness, which she attributed to exhaustion, advanced age, an intense workload and the disruption of his carefully managed diet and rest schedule.
She noted that his condition improved markedly once stricter routines and proper nutritional support were reintroduced.
Beyond health issues, Aisha Buhari also reflected on governance during her husband’s tenure, criticising gatekeeping practices that limited access to the president and, in her view, weakened accountability.
She emphasised that her involvement in government was strictly advisory, stressing that she neither signed official documents nor awarded contracts.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari died on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 82 in a London clinic. His passing was announced by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, and later confirmed by the presidency. He was laid to rest in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
