Akpabio Lacks The Character To Do What’s Right” – Adeyanju Fires Hard

Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has declared that Senate President Godswill Akpabio lacks the character to act in the right interest of Nigerians.

Adeyanju made the statement during an interview on News Central, responding to the police tear-gassing of protesters outside the National Assembly.

He criticized the Akpabio-led Senate, calling the lawmakers “political bandits” who are indifferent to the welfare of the people.

“It’s extremely ironic that groups supporting the National Assembly’s agenda weren’t teargassed. Those advocating for manual transmission of results or pro-government protests at the EFCC faced no force. Yet, anti-government protesters, opposing manual transmission, were teargassed at the National Assembly,” Adeyanju said.

He added, “Protest is a fundamental human right—it’s not a crime. I don’t understand why force is used when demonstrators are peaceful and follow legal procedures. The law provides clear steps for when a protest escalates into a riot.

“The only reason I’m not protesting myself is because people like Akpabio run the National Assembly. I cannot, in good conscience, take to the streets asking him to do the right thing when I know he lacks the character to do so.

“This National Assembly is made up of political bandits. They do not prioritize the interests of Nigerians.”
