He made the remarks while addressing party loyalists at a political gathering that endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for second terms in 2027.
Barau argued that with 29 governors, APC possesses strong grassroots reach, institutional presence, and the political machinery necessary to sustain national leadership. He described the party’s dominance at the state level as more than a statistic, calling it a structural advantage that enhances governance and electoral prospects.
The Deputy Senate President emphasized that President Tinubu’s endorsement was based on performance rather than sentiment, citing progress in infrastructure, healthcare, security, and education as evidence of the administration’s achievements. Drawing from his close working relationship with the President, Barau said he has firsthand insight into ongoing reforms and policy direction.
He added that the government is laying strong foundations for long-term stability and growth. While acknowledging economic challenges, he attributed rising costs of living to global instability, including international conflicts and worldwide economic disruptions. Despite these hurdles, Barau said the federal government is implementing measures to stabilize the economy and create structures that will yield results over time.
Finally, he called for continued unity within the party and cooperation among political actors, stressing that political stability is essential for effective governance. According to him, broad support and calm will provide the President the environment needed to fully implement his agenda.
