APC High-Stakes Meeting Sparks Speculation Of Major Political Decisions!

Governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), operating through the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), held a late-night meeting on Wednesday with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), led by the National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.

The meeting, which lasted more than four hours, ended with the governors expressing support for key party initiatives, including the timetable for upcoming congresses and the ongoing nationwide e-registration and membership update exercise.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the Imo State Governor and Chairman of the PGF, Senator Hope Uzodimma, said the forum reviewed and approved the schedule and institutional framework earlier endorsed by the party’s National Executive Committee for the conduct of ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, as well as the national convention.

Uzodimma also praised the APC National Chairman for driving the digital membership registration process, noting that it has attracted increased participation, especially among young Nigerians.

According to the communiqué, the inclusion of National Identity Number (NIN) verification in the registration process is expected to strengthen data-based planning, improve demographic analysis, and enhance grassroots mobilisation across communities nationwide.

“The Forum reaffirmed its shared commitment to strengthening internal democracy, consolidating party structures, and promoting reforms that ensure transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness at all levels of the APC,” the communiqué stated.

The governors further stressed the importance of transparent and coordinated financial management in organising party congresses and conventions to guarantee fairness, consistency, and accountability across all states, including those not currently governed by the APC.

The statement also reaffirmed the forum’s strong commitment to party unity and internal harmony, urging responsible communication and collective discipline to boost public trust in the party’s democratic processes.

In addition, the PGF announced plans for strategic consultations and state visits aimed at reinforcing grassroots structures, improving party cohesion, and supporting progressive governance across the country, beginning with a visit to Taraba State.

The forum also formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau States into the Progressive Governors Forum, reaffirming APC governors’ resolve to work closely with party leadership in advancing national development and democratic consolidation.

The governors expressed gratitude to the APC National Chairman, National Secretary, and other NWC members for what they described as a productive engagement, pledging continued cooperation to ensure a credible, transparent, and unifying congress and convention process.
