The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday held its 14th National Caucus meeting at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presiding.
The meeting convened top figures of the ruling party, including the Vice President, the Senate President, serving and former governors, members of the National Working Committee, and the leadership of the National Assembly, alongside other key party stakeholders.
Addressing the caucus, President Tinubu reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to addressing insecurity across the country. He emphasized that security reforms remain a top priority, adding that the introduction of state policing will come into effect as part of broader efforts to strengthen grassroots security, improve intelligence gathering, and enhance national stability.
The President also urged party leaders and elected officials to remain focused on governance delivery, discipline, and accountability, noting that the credibility of the APC rests on performance and service to the people.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, in his remarks, said the APC is expanding rapidly across the country, describing the increasing wave of defections into the party as evidence of growing national confidence in its leadership and direction.
The APC National Chairman formally welcomed newly defected governors into the party’s fold, describing their decision as a strong endorsement of the APC’s policies and leadership. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and internal cohesion as it prepares for upcoming congresses and its national convention.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio also addressed the meeting, raising concerns over the nation’s security challenges. He warned that insecurity is being deliberately orchestrated by enemies of the state and called for unity, prayers, and sustained support for President Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies. He also commended recent successes recorded in the rescue of abducted citizens.
The caucus concluded with renewed commitments by party leaders to unity, effective governance, and the consolidation of the APC’s growing national influence.
