Describing the PDP as the most widely accepted, well-structured, and strategically positioned party to address national challenges, the Forum made this statement on Friday after a meeting with the PDP minority leadership in the House of Representatives at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
Present at the meeting were House Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda, Minority Whip Ali Isa, Forum Chairman and 10th House of Representatives member Inuwa Garba, as well as Forum Secretary Williams Edor. Others in attendance included Bakitta Bello, Friday Itulah, Kwamoti Laori, and Ndanusa Hassan.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Garba described some defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as unconstitutional, expressing confidence that many former PDP members would soon return.
“We believe some of these defections violate constitutional provisions. Many politicians prioritize personal interests over the welfare of their people and the country,” he said.
“Party switching is inevitable, but soon, a wave of defections back to the PDP will unfold because Nigerians are now more politically aware and understand what is best for them. A single politician may leave for selfish reasons, but the electorate knows where their true interests lie.”
Garba further asserted that most credible politicians in Nigeria today were nurtured by the PDP.
“Any politician considered credible today has, at some point, been groomed by the PDP, the most widespread political party in Africa,” he said, accusing the ruling APC of attempting to manipulate the political landscape.
