Asake Reveals He Walked Away From Home To Chase Music Dream

Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has opened up about how his relationship with his father, Fatai Odunsi, became strained after he chose to pursue a career in music.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the Sungba crooner said his father strongly opposed his decision to go into music.

Asake revealed that despite their close bond while growing up, things changed when he insisted on leaving home to follow his passion.

He said: “My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless.”

Recall that in March 2025, Asake’s father had publicly accused him of neglect, a claim that sparked widespread reactions before both later reconciled, with the singer taking responsibility for his father’s welfare.

The singer also spoke about other struggles in his early career, particularly rejection from show promoters who were not receptive to his Yoruba-dominated style of music.

According to him, those setbacks did not stop his progress, as he remained committed to his sound and eventually broke through in the industry.
