Aso Rock To NASS: Approve 2026–2028 MTEF Now — Tinubu Unveils Bold Economic Agenda
President Bola Tinubu has officially sought the National Assembly’s approval for the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The request was contained in a letter read during Thursday’s plenary by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.
In the letter, Tinubu explained that the documents had already been endorsed by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its December 3, 2025 meeting and appealed to lawmakers for swift consideration and approval.
“I transmit herewith the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper for the kind consideration and approval of the distinguished senators,” the President wrote.
He noted that the 2026 budget will be prepared using the fiscal assumptions and parameters outlined in the approved MTEF and FSP.
After the letter was read, Jibrin referred the documents to the Senate Committee on Finance, directing it to submit its report by December 17.
The MTEF/FSP sets out the economic and fiscal blueprint that guides the nation’s annual budgets, including revenue and expenditure projections for the next three years.
Meanwhile, several ambassadorial nominees arrived at the National Assembly Complex for their screening.
Those who appeared on Thursday include former presidential aide Reno Omokri, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, Senator Grace Bent, and former Interior Minister Abdulrahman Dambazau.
Their appearance comes two weeks after President Tinubu forwarded their names to the Senate for confirmation.
