Battle For Control: Mark-Led ADC Reacts To Intensifying Internal Crisis
A faction of the African Democratic Congress led by former Senate President David Mark has accused opposing groups within the party of acting out of personal interest as the internal crisis deepens.
The rift escalated on Tuesday, with rival factions openly clashing over control of the party. Speaking in an interview, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Mark-led camp, Queen Okiyi, insisted that the opposing groups lack the legitimacy to represent the party.
Okiyi alleged that some members of the rival factions had been compromised, stressing that the party would not condone actions that threaten its structure or undermine discipline. She maintained that adherence to the party’s constitution is mandatory for all members.
She further accused members of the opposing camp of previous misconduct, including alleged financial impropriety and defiance of disciplinary actions taken against them. According to her, those involved have continued to present themselves as party leaders despite suspensions, and are now acting out of dissatisfaction with decisions taken by the Mark-led leadership.
