Effiong Inibehe, counsel to 17-year-old Quadri Yusuf Alabi, has demanded a ₦100 million compensation following his client’s discharge from an armed robbery case.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, Quadri — a supporter of Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi — was acquitted on Thursday after the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Babajide Martins, advised against his prosecution.

In a statement, Inibehe revealed that the DPP informed Magistrate A.O. Olorunfemi that there was no evidence linking Quadri to the alleged crime. Based on this advice, the court discharged and freed him.

“We commend the DPP for upholding the truth in this case,” Inibehe stated.

He went further to demand accountability from the police, calling for an internal investigation and disciplinary action against the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Amukoko Division and the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), Inspector Odigbe Samuel, alongside others involved in Quadri’s detention.

“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police and the Inspector General of Police must urgently remove the DPO of Amukoko Division and subject him and other complicit officers to orderly room trial,” he demanded.

Inibehe also called for a public apology and insisted that the Nigeria Police Force pay ₦100 million in compensation to his client.

“If these three demands are not met without delay, we will initiate legal proceedings to seek justice,” he warned.

“Quadri’s ordeal is a heartbreaking reflection of the deep-rooted corruption, gross impunity, and systemic failure within the Nigerian Police Force. Sadly, there are many others like him across detention facilities in Nigeria, unjustly held due to a broken justice system,” Inibehe added.
