Breaking: ADC Reshapes Strategy Amid Leadership Crisis, Taps Imoke, Tambuwal, Ihedioha, Lalong For Convention Drive

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by former Senate President David Mark, has set up a 22-member National Convention Central Coordination Committee despite the position of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the party’s leadership dispute.

The committee is tasked with overseeing preparations for the party’s national convention scheduled for next Tuesday.

According to reports, the committee will be chaired by former Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke, while former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, will serve as Vice Chairman. Dr. Ajuji Ahmed has been appointed as Secretary.

The central coordination body will be supported by 339 members spread across 11 standing committees, subject to possible adjustments.

Other members include former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, retired Commissioner of Police Tajudeen Bakare, Aminu Abubakar Gwarzo, Emeka Nwajuba, and former Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong, among others.

The party also announced several sub-committees to handle different aspects of the convention. The Legal and Convention Processes Committee will be chaired by Olumide Akpata, with Lilian Oraogbu as Vice Chairman and Chille Wanger Igbawua as Secretary.

Other committees include the Programmes and Events Sub-committee led by Senator Victor Umeh; the Medical Sub-committee headed by Senator Tony Nwoye; and the Entertainment Sub-committee chaired by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.

The Protocol Sub-committee will be led by Senator Gilbert Nnaji, while Senator Mohammed Ogoshi will head the Welfare Sub-committee. The New Media Sub-committee is chaired by Afam Ogene.

Senator Ireti Kingibe will head the Delegates and Accreditation Committee, Senator Austin Ibrahim will oversee Finance, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman will lead Media and Publicity, and Senator Binos Yaroe will chair the Venue Sub-committee. The Security Sub-committee will be headed by retired Air Vice Marshal Suleiman Adamu.

Despite the ongoing leadership dispute and INEC’s stance, the Mark-led ADC National Working Committee has insisted that the convention will go ahead as planned.

The party also accused INEC of bias, calling for the resignation of its leadership and alleging that its actions are aimed at weakening opposition parties.

ADC further claimed that such interference could threaten Nigeria’s democracy and potentially pave the way for a one-party state under the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
