Breaking: Alex Otti Rewards Soldier After Arrest Of Feared Kidnapper ‘Osisikankwu

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has honoured Staff Sergeant Amoke Gunshot Simeon for his role in the operation that led to the arrest of notorious kidnap kingpin Obioma Nwankwo, widely known as ‘Osisikankwu,’ in Aba in 2010.

Osisikankwu’ had led a feared kidnapping syndicate that terrorised Aba and nearby communities between 2008 and 2010 until Amoke spearheaded the operation that brought his activities to an end.

As a member of the Nigerian Army, Amoke played a crucial part in tracking and capturing the gang leader, helping to restore peace and security in the state.

During a visit to the soldier at his hometown in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Governor Otti promised to sponsor him for medical treatment abroad to aid his recovery and improve his health.

Speaking after the visit, Amoke recounted his time on assignment in Abia, explaining that his team was tasked with pursuing kidnappers and other criminals to maintain public safety.

He revealed that ‘Osisikankwu’ once offered him a ₦50 million bribe to allow his criminal activities to continue, but he rejected the offer.

Amoke noted that his integrity and dedication to duty eventually earned him recognition and respect.

He said, “I was on patrol across Abia State, covering areas from Ngwa High School to Asa, Onicha Ngwa, and Ikot Ekpene. I refused the bribe, and that brought relief to the people of Abia State.

“A good job pays. Today, I am grateful to Governor Otti for remembering me and supporting me.”

The soldier also spoke about a motor accident he suffered while on duty in the North-East, which left him with serious leg injuries after initial treatment proved ineffective.

He expressed appreciation to the governor for the support and the promise of overseas medical care, noting that such recognition would inspire other military personnel to remain committed to their duties.
