Breaking: APC Candidate Clinches Victory In Rivers State Bye-Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Napoleon Ukalikpe of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Ahoada East Constituency II by-election in Rivers State, held on Saturday.

Ukalikpe secured victory with 3,980 votes in a closely contested race.

At the announcement made at the INEC office in Ahoada town, Returning Officer Rosemary Ogu confirmed that Ukalikpe received the highest number of valid votes.

“Napoleon Ukalikpe, having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” she stated.

The by-election was conducted to fill the vacant seat for Ahoada East Constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

As of the time of reporting, results from 86 of the 87 polling units had been uploaded to the INEC Results Viewing Portal, representing 98.85% of all polling units, indicating that collation was nearly complete.

With this win, Ukalikpe is set to assume his seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly, further strengthening the APC’s position in the constituency.

Meanwhile, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), INEC had uploaded 2,602 out of 2,822 expected polling unit results from Saturday’s chairmanship elections as of 5:55 a.m. on Sunday. This represents 92.2% of the total outcomes across the six FCT area councils.

The Abuja Municipal Area Council recorded the highest volume of submissions, with 1,309 of 1,401 polling unit results uploaded, representing 93.43% completion. Ward-level uploads included:

• Gwarinpa (Ward 05): 185 of 199

• Garki (Ward 02): 155 of 171

• City Centre (Ward 01): 135 of 151

• Kabusa (Ward 03): 139 of 148

• Karu (Ward 10): 114 of 120

• Nyanya (Ward 11): 105 of 110

• Jiwa (Ward 06): 81 of 90

• Gwagwa (Ward 12): 78 of 82

• Orozo (Ward 09): 59 of 61

• Gui (Ward 07): 56 of 60

• Karshi (Ward 08): 32 of 34

In Gwagwalada Area Council, 330 of 338 polling unit results were uploaded, achieving the highest completion rate among the six councils at 97.63%.
