The appellate court also confirmed the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court delivered by Justice James Omotosho.
The officials whose suspensions were upheld are:
-
Samuel Anyanwu – Former National Secretary
-
Mohammed Abdulrahman – National Vice Chairman (North Central)
-
Kamaldeen Ajibade – National Legal Adviser
-
Umar Bature – National Organising Secretary
The suspensions were initially issued by the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) in November 2025.
Previously, a faction of the PDP had challenged a Federal High Court ruling that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the results of the party’s national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, which was scheduled for November 15–16.
On Monday, a three-member panel of the Court of Appeal delivered a unanimous judgment, ruling that the party’s appeal had no merit. The panel resolved all four issues raised against the party and affirmed the October 31 ruling by Justice Omotosho.
The lower court had granted all reliefs sought by the plaintiffs, including the injunction preventing INEC from recognising the outcome of the planned convention.
