BREAKING: Dangote Crashes Petrol Price — Nigerians To Now Buy Fuel At ₦840/Litre
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, from ₦880 to ₦840 per litre.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This development was confirmed on Monday night by Anthony Chiejina, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, who stated that the new pricing became effective on June 30, 2025.
“PMS price has been reduced from ₦880 to ₦840 per litre effective 30th June,” Chiejina confirmed.
The price cut comes just weeks after the refinery previously raised the ex-depot price to ₦880 due to volatility in the global oil market, particularly following the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran that pushed crude oil prices close to $80 per barrel.
That earlier hike had sparked concerns among independent marketers and consumers, many of whom feared it would trigger a fresh wave of fuel price increases across the downstream sector starting in July.
Now, with the reduced ex-depot price, marketers sourcing directly from Dangote Refinery — including major dealers like MRS, Heyden, and AP — are expected to adjust their pump prices accordingly in the coming days.
NNPC Raises Price to ₦925 Per Litre
Meanwhile, in contrast to the Dangote reduction, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has increased its retail pump price to ₦925 per litre at filling stations in Lagos — the second such increase in less than a week, following a previous hike to ₦915.
The NNPC’s upward price revision has further heightened public anxiety over the affordability and accessibility of petrol, even as private sector-led pricing appears to be stabilizing.
