Breaking: El-Rufai’s Bail Fate Delayed As Court Adjourns Case To June

A Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the hearing of a bail application filed by former governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026.
The case, presided over by Justice Darius Khobo, was rescheduled during proceedings held on Tuesday in Kaduna.
El-Rufai is facing multiple charges related to alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office, brought against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
He arrived at the court around 9 a.m. in a convoy, accompanied by officials of the anti-corruption agency and operatives of the Department of State Services, with heavy security deployed to maintain order around the premises.
Several of his supporters were also present outside the courtroom, while security personnel ensured the situation remained under control.
Speaking after the session, his lawyer, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the repeated postponements of the bail hearing, suggesting they may be politically motivated.
The court is expected to resume proceedings on the matter in June.
Meanwhile, El-Rufai has raised concerns about an alleged new plot to implicate him in further criminal matters, claiming there are coordinated efforts to damage his reputation and prolong his detention.
