Breaking: FG Reacts To Heroic Rescue Of Kidnapped Niger Pupils

In a statement on Sunday, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the operation as a “fitting end to the year” and commended the security forces for their dedication in protecting Nigerians.

Idris confirmed that all the 230 abducted pupils have been freed, with none remaining in the hands of the bandits.

“The rescue of the remaining 130 children and staff from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, Niger State, marks a fitting end to the year,” he said. “The Federal Government can confirm that all abducted pupils have been released. Not a single child is left in captivity.”

The minister stated that the recently freed 130 pupils would be handed over to the Niger State Government before being reunited with their families. He also extended warm seasonal greetings, wishing the families a Merry Christmas and a joyous reunion.

“This courageous effort by our security forces reaffirms our nation’s resolve to protect its citizens. The Federal Government empathizes with the parents and guardians for the distress caused by the abduction and wishes them a smooth and happy reunion,” Idris added.

Earlier, the Presidency, through Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the 130 remaining schoolchildren had been rescued following a military-intelligence-led operation. The students were released on Sunday, November 21, and are expected to arrive in Minna on Monday to reunite with their parents.
