The appointment was announced in an official circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service and shared on the Lagos State Government’s Facebook page on Tuesday.
Adetola’s elevation follows the statutory retirement of his predecessor, Abiodun Muritala, who previously served as the state’s Accountant-General. He officially assumed office on Monday, March 2, 2026.
Prior to this role, Adetola served as the State Auditor-General and was redeployed to lead the State Treasury Office in what government officials described as a strategic move to enhance public financial management.
In the statement announcing the development, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, congratulated Adetola and urged all stakeholders to support him in his new capacity. He called for cooperation to ensure a smooth transition in line with the circular’s directives.
“The strategic redeployment reflects the State Government’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and continuity in public financial management,” the statement added.
The circular confirmed that Adetola’s appointment took immediate effect from March 2, underscoring the government’s determination to maintain stability in the treasury office following Muritala’s departure.
