Agboke announced the development in a message shared on the official Osun INEC WhatsApp group on Wednesday night, where he expressed gratitude to staff and stakeholders for their support during his tenure in the state.
In his message, he said, “I have been transferred to Ondo State. I sincerely appreciate the support given to me throughout my time in Osun State. May God continue to support you all.”
The redeployment comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
Before his departure, Agboke held a meeting on Tuesday with election stakeholders from several local government areas, including Ife North, Ife Central, Ife East, Atakunmosa West, Ilesa East, and Ilesa West.
During the meeting, he explained that the suspension of the voter revalidation exercise was directed by INEC’s national headquarters and must be strictly followed by all parties involved.
He also emphasized the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure smooth electoral processes, noting that the engagement was designed to encourage dialogue, build trust, and gather feedback on potential challenges ahead of elections.
Some of the concerns raised at the meeting included low voter turnout, logistical challenges, and the need to strengthen security arrangements for future elections.
