Abdullahi Sule has presented Aliyu Ahmed Wadada to President Bola Tinubu as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 elections.
The presentation took place at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Governor Sule had earlier declared Senator Wadada as his preferred choice for the party’s governorship ticket during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia, signalling early alignments within the party ahead of the succession race.
Senator Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West in the 10th Senate, recently defected from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC, a move widely interpreted as strengthening his position in the governorship contest.
Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, has stated that the party will not grant automatic tickets to National Assembly members ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Yilwatda explained that the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act clearly outline the process for selecting candidates.
He added that all aspirants will undergo the same screening and competitive process, stressing that performance will be a key factor in determining those seeking re-election.
