During the permitted hours, residents are expected to carry out their normal and lawful activities, while security operatives continue to monitor the area to maintain peace and order.
The state government has called on citizens to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding as efforts are ongoing to restore lasting peace in the affected community.
In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government expressed appreciation for the patience and cooperation of residents during the curfew period.
The statement also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Tension had recently escalated in Angwan Rukuba after suspected armed attackers, reportedly dressed in military uniforms, invaded the community and opened fire on residents, resulting in multiple casualties.
The incident, which occurred on Sunday evening, sparked widespread fear among locals. An eyewitness, Nyam Isaac, recounted that the attackers arrived around 8 p.m. and began shooting indiscriminately in what was described as a busy market area.
Following the attack, the state government imposed the initial curfew as a measure to restore order and prevent further violence.
