The “Unavailable” crooner explained that his decision came after reflecting on the realities of politics and observing how other celebrities who ventured into the field have fared.
He made this known on April 5, 2026, during a livestream on Twitch with streamer Davrel, where he discussed his earlier ambition to go into politics and how his perspective has changed over time.
Davido said he previously gave serious thought to entering politics, but his outlook shifted after seeing the experiences of entertainers who attempted the same path, many of whom, according to him, did not achieve the expected level of success.
He noted that such a move could be risky for someone who has built a strong career and reputation in the entertainment industry.
According to him, “I used to want to go into politics, but now I see it differently. With the years of hard work, my name, and the fan base we’ve built, it’s a tricky path. The way things are, the transition hasn’t really worked out well for most superstars who tried it. I feel that if you’re a politician, that’s your profession.”
