The Brazilian midfielder, who joined United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, explained that his decision is motivated by a desire for a “new chapter” rather than any lack of affection for the club.
In a video released by United on Thursday, the 33-year-old said:
“Manchester United will always hold a special place in my heart. I’ll carry this club with me for the rest of my life. My whole family feels the same. This isn’t a goodbye—it’s just the start of a new chapter. I’ll always be connected to Manchester United.”
With his contract set to expire in June, Casemiro addressed his future early to avoid prolonged speculation. He had considered leaving in 2025 but ultimately decided to stay, adding further milestones to his United journey.
Since arriving at Old Trafford, Casemiro has featured in 146 games, scoring 21 goals and often stepping up in crucial moments. He was instrumental in United’s 2023 Carabao Cup win, scoring in the final against Newcastle United, and helped lift the Emirates FA Cup in 2024. His tenacity, positional intelligence, and knack for decisive goals quickly made him a fan favourite.
Supporters will have the chance to celebrate him during United’s final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest. Until then, Casemiro remains fully focused on the pitch.
“I will carry Manchester United with me for life,” he said. “From my very first steps onto this stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love of our fans. There are still many memories to make in the next four months. We have a lot to fight for together, and my focus will remain on giving everything to help our club succeed.”
