The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed officers captured in a viral stop-and-search video in Lagos to report to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja for a disciplinary review.

The officers involved in the incident, which occurred in Satellite Town, have been ordered to appear on Wednesday following public outrage over their conduct during the roadside operation.

In the widely circulated video, the officers were seen stopping a vehicle, ordering its occupants to step out, and searching one individual away from the car.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Giwa, said the directive reflects the police’s commitment to accountability and professionalism.

He urged officers nationwide to respect the rights of citizens, exercise restraint, and adhere strictly to established procedures while carrying out their duties.

Giwa also assured the public that the outcome of the disciplinary process would determine the next course of action, emphasizing the Force’s dedication to justice, discipline, and institutional integrity.

He added that public feedback remains important in strengthening professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force.
