In a social media post, Apostle Peter revealed that doctors had reportedly informed Omije Ojumi of the time of her death, and she had shared her burial wishes with close friends. She expressed a desire for a befitting and widely celebrated funeral.

He explained that several gospel musicians had already made arrangements, covering expenses such as the coffin, burial space, event hall, and the production of over 100 customised T-shirts.

However, Apostle Peter said the singer’s family opposed the involvement of the artistes. According to him, the family contacted the police and stepped in to halt the arrangements, including demanding Omije Ojumi’s phone from the woman who stayed with her in the hospital.

The family insisted on taking full control of the burial plans, preventing the musicians from participating. Apostle Peter noted that the artistes could not proceed, as the family allegedly threatened arrests if they showed up.

The incident led him to advise people facing terminal illnesses to legally document their burial wishes. He encouraged individuals to write and sign instructions, involve a lawyer, and even record a video message to ensure their plans are respected after death.

Omije Ojumi was eventually buried at Atan Cemetery in Lagos.

Meanwhile, the family has maintained that they chose to handle the burial independently and denied allegations that they demanded money from the gospel artistes.
