Controversy Erupts As Neo Akpofure Reacts To Alleged Sexual Misconduct

Reality TV star Neo Akpofure has formally demanded a public apology and retraction following sexual assault allegations made against him on social media.

Akpofure’s legal team from E.L. Akpofure, San & Co. served a notice to an (formerly Twitter) user, Ms. Arikan Udoka, who had posted claims alleging that a non-consensual encounter occurred while they were both students at the University of Calabar. Udoka also stated that they had previously been involved in casual sexual relations.

The lawyers denied the allegations, describing them as false and damaging to Akpofure’s reputation. They argued that the claims wrongly portray him as a sexual offender, causing public shame and emotional distress.

The notice demanded that Udoka remove the post and any related content, issue a public retraction, and formally apologize. Additionally, she was asked to provide a written assurance that she would refrain from making further defamatory statements.

The legal team warned that failure to comply within 48 hours would result in legal action, including a civil defamation suit under Nigerian law.

The notice stated in part:

“Your allegation is entirely false, malicious, and defamatory, to say the least. It portrays our Client as a sexual offender and a criminal, thereby subjecting him to public odium, reputational injury, emotional distress, and severe personal and professional damage.”
