Convoy Storm!” Fire Service Chief’s Kogi Visit Sparks Massive Reactions Online

The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Adeyemi, has sparked reactions on social media after a video surfaced showing him arriving in his home state of Kogi in a convoy during the Easter period.

Reports indicate that Adeyemi returned to Kogi for a series of official and courtesy visits, including meetings with traditional rulers and other key stakeholders.

In a post on X, the Federal Fire Service said the visit was aimed at engaging community leaders and promoting fire safety awareness. The post also noted that the Controller-General received royal blessings and that plans for a fire station in Kabba are ongoing.

According to an official statement, Adeyemi, who was appointed Controller-General on August 14, 2025, made several visits across the state during the trip.

He paid courtesy visits to traditional rulers such as the Elulu of Mopa, Muyiwa Ibeun, and the Maigari of Lokoja, Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV.

He also visited his hometown, Odo-Ape, where he was welcomed with cultural displays and prayers for a successful tenure.

The delegation later met with the Obaro of Kabba, Solomon Owoniyi, before attending a reception in Kabba, which was attended by several dignitaries, including the Kogi State Deputy Governor, Joel Salifu Oyibo, representing Governor Usman Ododo.

Other notable attendees included political figures such as Durosinmi Meseko and former Controller-General Ibrahim Alhaji Liman.

During the visit, traditional leaders commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing Adeyemi and called for improved fire safety infrastructure in the state.

The Maigari of Lokoja advocated for a National Fire Training School in Kogi, while the Obaro of Kabba requested the establishment of a fire station in Kabba.

In response, Adeyemi stated that the Federal Fire Service is already working toward setting up a fire station in Kabba to address fire-related challenges in the area, and he called for continued collaboration from stakeholders.

However, a video showing the Controller-General’s convoy has drawn criticism online, with many Nigerians questioning the use of resources, especially amid broader concerns about emergency services and infrastructure in the country.

Several social media users described the convoy as excessive and raised concerns about priorities, arguing that more attention should be given to improving fire service facilities and equipment nationwide.
