The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday interrogated former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, over alleged financial misconduct.
Reports indicate that Ohanenye, who was dismissed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is being questioned over accusations of misappropriation, procurement violations, and diversion of public funds amounting to ₦138,413,253.89. These alleged infractions occurred during the disbursement of the 2023 budgeted funds for the ministry.
According to New Telegraph, the former minister arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 11:00 AM and has been undergoing intense questioning regarding her alleged involvement in the financial scandal.
Preliminary EFCC investigations suggest that funds allocated for the P-BAT Cares for Women Initiative were diverted for personal enrichment.
The interrogation is ongoing, and as of now, Ohanenye has not been granted administrative baiL
