The government accuses Oyetola of money laundering, financial misconduct, and violating the Public Procurement Act in the disbursement of funds meant for healthcare improvements in the state.
According to a petition dated March 7, 2025, obtained by journalists, Oyetola, during his tenure as governor, led a special Health Intervention Committee responsible for allocating the grant. The committee, which included former officials Remi Omowaye, Dr. Rafiu Isamatu, and Bola Oyebamiji, reportedly funneled the entire $20 million into the renovation of 320 primary healthcare centers across Osun State.
The petition, written by state government lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi, alleges that the contract awarding process was manipulated, with Oyetola bypassing the Public Procurement Act of 2007. Instead of conducting an open bidding process, contracts were allegedly handed to individuals linked to his administration, including cabinet members, government agency heads, and close associates.
The government further alleges that several beneficiaries of these contracts had no construction expertise, with businesses such as food vendors, salon operators, supermarket owners, and web designers receiving large payments for the renovations.
Some of the companies named in the petition include:
- Poshpreneurs Nig. – Allegedly owned by the children of former Head of Service, Olowogboyega Oyebade.
- Dotfam Multiventures Ltd – Linked to the siblings of the former APC State Chairman.
- The Ice Firms Nig. Ltd – Allegedly owned by Adebayo Adeleke, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
- Afamoks Web International – Linked to former Amotekun Field Commander, Amitolu Shittu.
The Osun government insists that these companies, despite lacking expertise, carried out substandard renovation projects while receiving full payments, resulting in the misappropriation of the $20 million grant.
