Discipline Shake-Up: FRSC Dismisses 43 Officers Amid Misconduct Allegations

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has dismissed 43 personnel over various offences, including desertion, misconduct, and violations related to patrol duties.

The decision was announced on Thursday in Abuja through a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.

According to the statement, 31 officers were sacked for abandoning their posts, five were removed for acts deemed scandalous, and seven lost their jobs due to patrol-related misconduct.

The Corps emphasized that the action underscores its commitment to discipline within the organization. It noted that wearing the FRSC uniform carries significant responsibility, and any officer who violates its rules will face strict consequences under the agency’s internal system.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said the dismissals demonstrate the agency’s firm stance against indiscipline and unethical behavior.

“The FRSC operates as a professional paramilitary organization with clear rules and expectations. We will not tolerate conduct that undermines public trust or weakens our mission,” he said.

Mohammed described desertion as a particularly serious offence, especially for an agency tasked with ensuring road safety nationwide. He stressed that officers are expected to remain dedicated to their duties, given the Corps’ responsibility to protect the lives of road users daily.

He further noted that improper conduct and patrol-related violations damage the agency’s image and conflict with its core values of discipline and transparency, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable within the FRSC.
