Drama Unfolds As ADC Faction Slams Suspension On Atiku, Babachir Lawal

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has announced the suspension of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, from the party.
The announcement was made on Monday by the faction’s state chairman, Raji Sulaiman Zumo, who said the decision followed consultations among party leaders in the state.
Zumo explained that the affected members were suspended over their alleged involvement in actions that caused divisions within the party.
He stressed that no member, regardless of status or influence, is above the party’s constitution as long as they remain part of the ADC.
Those named in the suspension include Atiku Abubakar, Babachir Lawal, and Barrister Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin, who serves as the Transition Committee Chairman.
“In view of consultations with the party’s leadership, we hereby announce the immediate suspension of these individuals,” Zumo said.
He added that the move was necessary to restore discipline and unity within the party, accusing those suspended of promoting disunity, creating parallel structures, undermining party authority, and disregarding existing court orders.
According to him, the decision was taken in the overall interest of the party to maintain order, protect its integrity, and uphold democratic principles.
