The robbery reportedly occurred along Shiroro Road in the state capital and was captured by a CCTV camera installed at a nearby restaurant.
The victim, identified as David Emmanuel Adebayo, explained that he had earlier withdrawn ₦5 million from Wema Bank before visiting TAJBank, where he withdrew an additional ₦3 million.
According to him, after completing the transactions at about 2 p.m. on Friday, he drove to Iya Femi Restaurant located along Shiroro Road.
Unbeknownst to him, the suspects had allegedly followed him from the bank.
At the restaurant, the attackers reportedly confronted him and made away with the cash.
During the struggle, the victim managed to seize one of the rifles used by the robbers and fired at one of the suspects.
The injured suspect reportedly fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
Amid the chaos, the assailants abandoned their Toyota Corolla at the location and escaped using the victim’s vehicle.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Wasiu Abiodun, said officers recovered both the rifle used during the robbery and the abandoned vehicle.
He added that investigations are ongoing as security operatives intensify efforts to track down and arrest the suspects involved in the attack.
