According to Naija News, Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto established a commission of inquiry to investigate the alleged diversion of ₦16.1 billion raised through shares from the Sokoto State Investment Company. It is claimed that the funds were misappropriated during Senator Tambuwal’s administration.

While testifying before the Sokoto Commission of Inquiry on Monday, Dasuki clarified that the share transactions were conducted directly between the Sokoto Investment Company and the Government House, without his office’s involvement. He noted that the managing director of the investment company informed him that the total value of shares sold was approximately ₦3 billion.

“I was informed by the managing director of the investment company that the total value of the shares was just over ₦3 billion,” he said, as reported by Daily Trust.

Dasuki explained that his office had sought and obtained approval from the governor to raise ₦2 billion through the investment company to fund state projects, including legacy projects and obligations such as salaries and allowances. However, he stated that the company only deposited ₦1.5 billion into the accountant general’s account in two installments: ₦1 billion initially, followed by ₦500 million.

“To the best of my knowledge, that is all I am aware of regarding this matter,” Dasuki concluded.
