Despite the State of Osun Public Procurement Law 2015, which mandates adherence to procurement regulations and registration under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), discrepancies have emerged. Salam emphasized the government’s commitment to transparent governance and adherence to procurement laws.
However, investigations conducted by this publication reveal apparent violations of procurement laws. Notably, the award of a N10,764,206,257.58 contract for the construction of the “7-span bridge at Okefia intersection” to Askorj International Nigeria has raised questions. The company, as disclosed by the government, lacks registration evidence on the CAC website, indicating that over N10 billion was awarded to a seemingly non-existent entity.

Further scrutiny reveals discrepancies in company names listed in government publications and those found on the CAC website, casting doubt on the transparency of the procurement process. Additionally, Raregeode Company Ltd., owned by Oyewusi Akinyode Abidemi, the deputy speaker representing Ife North State Constituency, was awarded a significant contract despite concerns about conflicts of interest.

Efforts to clarify these discrepancies were met with deflections and unavailability from government officials, raising concerns about accountability and transparency in the procurement process.
As investigations continue, questions persist regarding the allocation of public funds and adherence to procurement regulations within Osun State.
