Gov. Eno Slams Critics: ‘Am I Your Receptionist? It’s An Insult To Say I Don’t Pick Calls
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has hit back at critics accusing him of ignoring calls from the public.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking at the monthly Covenant Service held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Uyo on 1 March 2026, Eno described the claims as both misleading and disrespectful.
The governor emphasized that public criticism should be constructive rather than personal. He said,
“Stop saying the governor doesn’t pick your call. Am I your receptionist? Who are you that I should even pick your phone? It’s insulting to suggest that I’m not attending to your calls.”
Meanwhile, top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have clarified that governors who recently joined the party will not be granted automatic tickets for the 2027 general elections.
Affected governors include Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, and Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, who is expected to defect to the APC soon.
A member of the APC National Working Committee (speaking anonymously to The PUNCH) explained that the party’s constitution and democratic principles do not allow automatic tickets for any aspirant. The source added that it is incorrect to assume governors join the APC solely to secure re-election.
