Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has criticized some of his political aides for downplaying their monthly wages in public.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during a Town Square Meeting with the people of Ikono and Ini Federal Constituency at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, the governor disclosed that the least-paid of his appointees receives a minimum of ₦1 million monthly.
Governor Eno made the remarks while promoting his Protocol Personal Assistant, Blessed Essien, to Special Assistant on Public Works in recognition of Essien’s efforts in providing a water borehole for his community.
The governor said:
“As I arrived here, I was given a brochure by a PA who, from his own salary, constructed a borehole and reticulated it around his village. One man has done this, yet some political appointees still go around telling their people that the governor has done nothing. Some even belittle the office of a PA. But let me state clearly, a PA to the governor of a state is not ordinary.
No PA earns less than ₦1 million. Yet, when they talk, they call it a stipend. To me, ₦1 million is not a stipend—it is serious money.”
Governor Eno further revealed that he has directed the Secretary to the State Government to compile and publish the names of all political appointees according to their local government areas in national newspapers.
He urged citizens to hold their leaders accountable, saying:
“Call your PAs, SAs, SSAs, and Commissioners, and ask them, what have you done for your people?”
The governor then formally elevated Essien, declaring:
“Today, you are promoted from PA to SA on Public Works.”
