The 41-year-old surpassed former record holder Robert Parish, who previously held the mark with 1,611 games since 1997. James had already matched the record earlier in the week during a win over Miami before officially breaking it in today’s game.

The milestone came in dramatic fashion as Orlando led 104–102 with just three seconds remaining, before Luke Kennard hit a clutch three-pointer with 0.6 seconds left to secure the win and extend the Lakers’ winning streak to nine games.

The result improved the Lakers’ record to 46–25, strengthening their hold on third place in the Western Conference.

James contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the game, while Luka Dončić led the team with 33 points. Austin Reaves also added 26 points, though Dončić picked up his 16th technical foul of the season, triggering an automatic suspension for the next game against the Detroit Pistons.

Speaking after the game, James described the moment as special but routine in preparation, emphasizing his long-standing commitment to staying available for his teammates throughout his career.

Now in his 23rd NBA season, James continues to extend his legacy, already holding multiple league records including total career points, field goals made, and attempts.
